Winner — Emmanuel Costa

Costa is two-for-two in his pro career. The 2022 Arnold South America Amateur winner won his pro debut that same season and the Musclecontest Mercosul Pro. Costa qualified for the 2022 Olympia but didn’t compete.

This was Costa’s first show of 2023. Should he compete in Orlando in November 2023, it will be his Men’s Physique Olympia debut.

Second Place — Matheus Nery

Nery was ranked second by the judges in this single-round scored contest. The head judge for the show was not listed on the scorecards.

This finish is impressive for Nery, as he earned his pro card only one day before this show. A runner-up finish is quite the result for a pro debut under those circumstances.

Nery had round and wide shoulders that tapered down to a tight waist. He was popular with the fans, and if he continues to compete this season, he could land himself in several first callouts.

Third Place — Lucas Viudes Santos

Viudes Santos was also making his pro debut, and he left the stage with a top-three finish. The top three — and four of the top five — were from Brazil.

The country was already well known for its Wellness division athletes, and it’s become a hotbed for Men’s Physique contenders as well. As of this writing, it’s unknown if Viudes Santos will compete again this season.

Other Notes

The other two Men’s Physique shows held on this weekend were the 2023 New York Pro, won by Ryan Terry, and the 2023 Optimum Classic Pro, won by Derrick Stevenson.

The next Men’s Physique show on the 2023 schedule is the Palmetto Classic, scheduled for Saturday, May 27, in Columbia, SC.
